Discuss all things Street Sharks here.-Toys?-Comics?-Likely new show?
You know what is the biggest problem with the OG Street Sharks is that the paint on the rubbery parts starts to crack off as time goes on.It's very difficult to find one with good paint in my experience.
>>10967877>It's very difficult to find one with good paintAnd yet people will still try and charge you through the nose for it. That's why I'm glad this new series of figures is coming out.
Guesses on when the new show is getting announced?I'd say before this year's SDCC so the trailer can be shown.
Old one fell off, so I'm stepping up. Company status:Joytoy: thriving!McFarlane: hanging in thereBandai: they're still around!?Let's keep it to the toys, and no lore.Thread question - is there a repaint that you'd really want, but hasn't been done yet?
Going in blind with HH stuff, I got a Mk. VI SoH Marine, SoH Contemptor, and John Heresy himself on the way.>>10960129>>10967305Much obliged.
>>10967289Damn, I just looked at BBTS, and I never realized how shitty their prices are... Amazon has way better prices. As far as I can tell, there are no bootlegs, as the Chinese don't skim their own, so that shouldn't be an issue. Just go for where's the cheapest, and or ships the fastest.
>>10967289I've gotten most of my JT stuff through Amazon and haven't had an issue, aside from Guilliman having two of the same pauldron, but the return only took, like, 2 days.
>>10965610I ordered six of each.
>>10967289Amazon is awful in current year, just order from AliExpress. JT bootlegs don't exist currently and AE unironically has better customer service. I have only had four instances where a figure was missing something (I have 114, only a handful were bought on Amazon or from the JT website and the rest from AE), and all but one of those times they either refunded the cost of the entire figure or sent the piece that was missing for free: My Castellan Crowe was missing the potion bottle thing that goes on his hip and they said they didn't have the part available to replace that, but from what I have heard, that part is mismolded and all of them that do exist are fucked up and don't fit in the belt anyways, so I don't think it was the seller's fault. I can't speak for Gundamit since I don't use them, but I know that BBTS has awful pricing and I hate that their name sounds like a sex toy shop so I never purchase from them.

Last time I was into it was the mcfarlane alien queen 20 centuries ago. Then I found scale models, miniatures, etc. Have a kid now, so no time to airbrush or paint. I thought they've always been popular when I saw them here and there in pop culture shops, but tried to get into it again this alien day, and all production is stopped everywhere. Neca seems to have retired it in 2020. Several half hearted lines by your usual suspects, bandai, kotobukiya, hot toys, etc. most retired, if not expensive af.Only outstanding one the the insane prime 1 alien queen but it costs as much as a used car. What happened?
>>10964619only if youre a boomer
>>10964619Well, too many things came out really. I'm a fan and I'm satiated. As you mention, we had Neca, Mcfarlane, Bandai, Koto, Mezco, Eaglemoss, Lanard, Reaction, Mega Construx of all things, etc etc. For the last 15 years we had constant product available. There's only so much people consume before getting tired of the same colonia marines and the same alien design over and over and over.
>>10967219a car? More like an enclosed motorcycle.Shit's ridiculously thin.
>>10967352Everything is OOP now and costs too much. Neca marines are going for hundreds on ebay, things like ultimate big chap much more, kotobukiya is 500.There's no way to even get any figure from the original 3 movies for cheap. They could have expanded into diorama stuff, just release playsets with figures, do a stairwell, spacesuit locker, sleep pods, hive floor.Or they could do a queen that doesn't need a waist brace. Everyone loves the queen. Everyone wants to buy a queen. It'll sell no matter what.
>>10967791I'm pretty sure Ultimate Big Chap and the Ultimate Aliens Warriors get reissued a lot. I think the Targets near me still have some of the Aliens warriors.

>>10967144The fact that scalpers make bank is strange to me, especially when the time it takes to box and organize and ship all this product must be quite a bit.
>>10963441Pile of loot plus only getting things that are at MSRP or close. They do have crazy markup on a lot of things, but not everything.
>>10965219Those are bootlegs dude.
>>10965383That only helps if you live near an Ollie's. I'm a mile from the ocean but several states stand between my address and any Ollie's stores. My best bet for ANY kind of dirt cheap toys is hitting a mess of Ross and Big Lots.
>>10967212Most scalpers don't, the amount you have to move to break even usually causes them to drown in stock. GIJoe scalpers are a great example of this, most of them are sitting on stashes of figures, a figure of the character Serpentor soldout fast and most collectors don't have one, but there are thousands on ebay all asking for 180+ for a figure that cost 60.
Pokémon General
Walmart/Target in MO. Starting to roll out.
>>10967156IIRC the pokemon figures were originally made by a company called WCT, before they got acquired by Jazwares. WCT was a small company so they couldnt afford to do their own manufacturing, so they contracted some random factories who then produced additional products to sell as "bootlegs." So basically the bootlegs are sold by the guys who originally made the first couple of figures
>>10967631Strange that TPCi trusted said small company. WCT didn't really have much of note, and Tomy USA was already doing great to some degree. Some later figures would get gummy, but they always had a set plan every year, up until the best quality final evo starters
What happened to Entei though.
>>10967638It's because the company was small enough that they bought a stake in it and so would be on the board. At the time we assumed this would help products get out quicker with what's happening in media and games, and maybe it did, but all I remember is the massive dip in quality from Tomy. I still think that Tomy's 5" Pokemon were probably the best combination of price, size, and articulation. They weren't all to scale, but they were still fun like Snorlax. Also the whole line felt coherent, like this 5" line was still a part of their scale 2" and 3" lines, unlike what the Selects of today feel like. I'm sure they're both great people, but I think what the Pokemon line most needs is a new brand manager who's more in tune with what Pokemon figure collectors want, and from there other changes like designers or even design styles would be implemented (because surely this current guy can do a better job at articulation than he's done, unless it really is TPCi being so strict about aesthetics).

>>10967100Let's put this in perspective: let's say you're a (((guy))) at a retirement fund handling their shares portfolio. Hasbro is only less than a 10th of a percent of that portfolio. Why should I care what happens there? Not worth my time.Cocks knows this too.
>>10962946when did this happen? I don't follow the toy industry much but if i remember not too long ago it was Mattel that was doing really badly and people saying it wouldn't stay afloat while Hasbro was now investing in their media branch to start making shows and movies.
>>10967447Only because that retard Goldner couldn't get a job at a media company so he decided to twist a toy company into one. >all those anons who kept things in their private warehouse for 3 to 4 years are finally going to get their shit cancelled kek
>>10963635It's not. Even at normal price it's at least 1,000-1,600 yen cheaper than AmiAmi for a scale figure for example. HLJ base prices always tend to run higher and their shipping cheaper. But it's item dependent. Sometimes HLJ base price AND shipping is cheaper. Sometimes it's very similar across the board.

>>10962736wait, is this still from the coof?i had something waiting in the warehouse for like a year or nearly 2 during covid, but then i got cold feet at some point, decided to have it shipped. they said they had trouble locating it, making me fear that it was just no longer around (the item itself was out of stock everywhere else and on HLJ itself), but a week later they found it and shipped it after alli can't imagine letting things stay there 2 years after that lol

Been a while since we’ve had a thread, so a few things have come out. I just saw that Present Toys announced they’re doing a 1/6 RE5 Wesker yesterday and teased they’re gonna do a RE5 Chris as well. Bandai is hinting at a Tamagotchi Connection rereleasehttps://twitter.com/TMGC_net/status/1783677376741638325They're referencing a western Connection V3 commercial, but promoting it in Japan, so the device is potentially an amalgamation of the whole connection/plus era rather than a 1:1 rerelease like what they did for the P1/P2.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1wMB99LrW5Q

>>10966537One thing I'm uncertain about -For the last few years, Bandai have maintained 3 tamagotchi product streams>P1/P2 re-releases>Nanos>"Feature" devicesTamagotchi Uni is still the flagship feature device - they've even just started selling DLC for it - so it's not like they're about to sunset it.They're still releasing new P1/P2 shells, and announcing new nanos (even upgrading them to color now)Which would mean an Anniversary Connection would be a 4th product stream? This is uncharted territory for Bandai.Point being, I don't know if they'd want to maintain both the Tamagotchi Uni online live service and an online service for an Anniversary Connection. It's not impossible, I'll be impressed if they do it.A few options I could imagine>Anniversary Connection has no website/app connectivity, maybe replicates some features completely on-deviceComment too long. Don't know how many of you have noticed it yet, but the teaser looks a lot like an old V3 commercial.
I’ve currently been using nicer bookshelves I received for free, but I feel like they’re not the best for figures. I’m curious what other anons use for their displays.>detolfsI know, but don’t they not sell them anymore?
>>10951359what about building the shelf was hard? I see a lot of reviews saying you need 2 people to build but is it possible for just 1?
>>10965293The instructions weren't very clear at points and they cheaped out on some of the less important materials which made it more time consuming than it would've been to build two detolfs. The finished product was worth the hassle, but I definitely wouldn't recommend building it alone, mainly for securing the two back glass pieces together. Maybe you could brace it against the wall, though, if you can get anyone else to help you, better to do that rather than risk something breaking.
>>10951359>>10966237Do the handles on the front bother you at all?
>>10966401I thought they'd bother me more when I first ordered it, but you kind of adapt to them and stop seeing them after a while. I prefer it to the other main alternative I was considering, the Milsbo, since that thick frame's more intrusive imo. Here's another pic with more standard lighting(again not mine, as mine is filled with statues) for anyone considering buying one. Home Depot actually has it for a great price right now. It was out of stock there at the time and I got mine from Lowes for about $100 more.
