Awkward choices no actual person would make unless maybe they were a completely naive beginner, in which case the supposed skill on display looks ridiculously ill-fitting. The cropping and general microcomposition shape choices in things like hair and folds, for example.

What does a paypal invoice look like to clients in 2024?

Can they see your address and name?

Do you use a business name?

If you do, what's the point of that? They can easily look up where your business was registered and the name of the owner

I guess PP hates privacy? They won’t let you use a PO instead of your home address either. Fits with the general trend going on with people being conditioned to having no privacy and being complacent with it. I don’t care much about people knowing my name but exposing your address online is a no-no regardless of how clean your art is

baraag signups are open again for the next 24 hours https://twitter.com/baraag_net/status/1783350702560968997
i recommend looking into migrating your account to an allied server eventually, baraag is way too big for its own good.
>>
>>7145455
>an allied server
which one?
>>
>>7145239
Bad, bad bad proportions. Those are the proportions of a 1 year old with that huge head and thick legs. Don't be afraid to make long thin arms and relatively tiny heads, as long as the face is big, and the eyes bigger still.

>>
>>7145460
>which one?
check the follower list of a big baraag account, like the admin account. any non-baraag user that appears on that follower list comes from an allied server.

I just combed through the midjourney subreddit and it's not looking good for us. There's generated graphic novels out there that actually look really good. People are buying these things. It really is just dawning on me now the seriousness of this aspect of technological advancement.

I think it's inevitable that AI will have to be used in some way to supplement art, whether it's creating concepts or backgrounds, or get left behind in the dust.

Isn't it FUCKING HILARIOUS, cruelly ironic, almost a cosmic prank that the ONE thing everyone thought artificial intelligence would never be able to replicate is the first thing it's able to replicate when it was concieved?

Still

There is a fundamental flaw in the ai generated content that I'm only 50% sure it won't be fully fixed, and that's emotion. There's a sort of soulless vacancy that haunts the incredibly aesthetic ai generated content. The poses aren't very fluid, there's no technique with exaggeration. It can't capture the emotional complexities of a human. There is no "story", nor experience, no evidence of another, different conscience that experiences his own version of qualia. I hope and pray to god with every vessel of my flesh that AI doesn't figure that out, because if that happens,
1. There's really no point in artists anymore. It'll be reduced to a skill that's only impressive in that wow, you can "do stuff like a computer can"
2. The implication that humans aren't special, we are just machines that can be easily figured out, the human 'spirit' is an illusion.

i feel like skilled artists don't have much to worry about. they're creative in a way that ai people aren't, since the ai people are just generating shit like "REALLY GOOD PICTURE OF MY PREGNANT WIFE."
for shit artists like me though, it's worse, because my art literally looks worse than ai. i don't think art's gonna be killed, but people will be way less likely to get into it.
>>
AI has made me think a lot about whether it's worth continuing to pursue art. But ultimately, AI can't make what I want to make. It's just a slot machine that spits out someone else's creation. A random theoretical person's piece of art, not mine. Even if AI eventually gets good enough to make actually pleasing work, I think it will always be unsatisfying to the artist because it can't make what the artist truly intended. This is especially unfortunate because I believe it can (and maybe already does) satisfy the audience.
>>
>>7141773
>it's not looking good for us
>us
Speak for yourself crab. Mine is the pencil that will draw the heavens.

On a more serious note, unless you were really good when you were a child/young teen, it was already risky to expect that you would become financially independent from art alone which is why you should have gotten a day job to fund your own artistic pursuits.

AI doesn't change anything unless you wanted to be a concept artist or a social media influencer.

>I think it's inevitable that AI will have to be used in some way to supplement art
Let's reconsider this statement during the next energy crisis.
I can make charcoal and fixative in my backyard and I have a shit-ton of paper. I'll be able to produce art when AI will just be dead servers.
But now I just don't give a shit. I make art because I like it, money is just a bonus.

I think we're in the same school same grade same situation lol. small world

i've been taking random classes that seem useful to me and might potentially give me a skill or allow me to work on portfolio stuff. animation, comics, next year going into 3d stuff. But lmfao its fucking ridiculous because even in these classes that might be useful, digital is frowned upon or outright banned and dozens of hours and hundreds of dollars are wasted on buying materials and doing it the traditional way.

In hs i was churning out a piece every 2 weeks for AP portfolio. Now i haven't been able to finish a portfolio tier piece since fucking november. trudging through 10 page paper assignments and slideshows and even an imaginary gallery setup assignment. My work is never going to be in a gallery and I don't want it to be.

I don't know about you but i've met a few people who are also into commercial stuff. none of them are particularly talented but they're all in the same boat. I used to think i was better than everyone at this school because i thought they would go nowhere selling their period blood collages at craft shows but now I'll probably be in the same situation in two years. I also used to think i was ahead of people my age but now when i see the work of people who are going to calarts or artcenter I feel like i'm light years behind.
>>
>>7145355
no kidding, I think you're right. I haven't taken any of the animation classes yet but I did hear they're taught by fossils who make you do everything on paper lmfao.

next year I'm also going into 3D that's nuts. ...Does the prof's first name start with a P? I'm at least kind of hopeful about the department because my friend has had a good experience with it even if a bit new media-y.

artcenter was my dream school and I used to wonder how the fuck people met the portfolio requirements to get in. realizing that almost no one goes there fresh out of hs has made me feel a lot better about it lol, not that I'll likely ever get the chance to go anyway.
>>
>>7145364
the problem with the intro to animation class is that it seems to be a prerequisite for a lot of other classes. That's why i'm taking it. the class has been useful in learning some techniques (I also cope by saying the amount of drawing is making my line quality better lul) but every day i think that it would be so much fucking easier to use digital and that learning hand drawn shooting techniques is only helpful for making bullshit no profit indie animations, at least for the people in the class who are going to pursue it as a career.

not taking 3d directly next semester but the following semester i will. I hope your professor ends up being good!

and yeah. i also wonder where i would've been artwise had i gone elsewhere. Definitely in a better place.

i don't want to get too personal so don't share this info if you don't want to. But what other classes are you planning on taking/have you took? i saw you haven't taken any painting or drawing classes. don't. Lmfao.
>>
>>7145377
next sem I'm taking a 3d class, a story boarding class, and a painting class. I know you said not to take the painting classes but I got some good recs from post-grads lol.

before that I took some game dev stuff and the pre req for it.I mostly really regret all of it because it was pretty much a disorganized waste of my time.
the only classes I've really gained anything from have been with one really good hidden gem professor. I lucked out by taking her figure drawing/anatomy class first sem and am now in her advanced version. besides that I don't really have any recs unfortunately haha. I'm probably just going to keep doing 3D and painting, maybe dabble in animation/comics.

and yeah I wish I could talk to you on something else so I could be more specific, but all my online handles are connected to my real name somehow and I don't want to open the floodgates

His approach is not that trivial to follow either. Like, if you messes up your values, you'll get nowhere. He's openly teaching Sunday painters, but it still requires some amount of skills, a careful selection of material well-suited for his techniques and so forth.

This is for OP, i also used to do graffiti (15 years ago) and have not done graffiti or art for that long. Graffiti was cool for me because i liked colors and scribbling. its been so long i lost my way and im trying to go back to art in general (studying on my own). here's some scribbles i did last week after 15+ years of doing nothing (growing up and working at an insurance office as an adjuster sucks...the life of you)

Finch said not to do the Bridgman heads cuz they're weird and use Loomis for heads instead. But personally, I don't find the Bridgman heads half bad. They're good even.

Is Finch cooking and Bridgmenners should skip the heads in favour of Loomis' superior method?
Or is Finch tripping and Bridgman heads cool.
What does /ic/ think?

Introduction for the uninitiated:
Tired of being permabeg? Just grab yourself of a copy of George Bridgman's Complete Guide to Life Drawing and copy the drawings. When you're done, do it again from memory.

I know /ic/ struggles with this concept immensely, but, you can study from two different sources and learn from both, even if you don't master either. In fact, you should take every chance to study new things. Artistic skill is a hollistic thing; it is not something that you can just level up like a video game by killing five hundred pigs.
>>
>>7144090
Then why didn't Finchy say do both?

started grinding just before college: if i wasn't in my classes or working, i was almost always drawing while studying art books, be it trad or digital (i eventually settled on the latter)
i say "almost always" because at the time, i was also learning music theory on a guitar, a few languages for work-related reasons, and several others just for fun (vehicles, clothing, the list goes on), it's almost been a decade since i started
also this >>7145018, the grind never felt like torture to me, but i did know i was utter dogshit when i started taking art seriously: i avoided feeling bummed out about hitting walls by focusing on a different subject when i burnt out on one (drawing machinery instead of people, instruments instead of clothes, etc.)
