As someone who doesn't enjoy mainstream battle shounen series like Jujutsu Kaisen or Demon Slayer much due to them feeling bland and generic, is pic related worth reading? I'm intrigued by the art style and overall theme/setting, but if it's anything like your average Jump series then I might just pass.

I watched the anime - all the episodes. According to Manga Updates the anime stopped at volume 10 and to be honest I'm thinking you'll find it very undewhelming. Basically it was the boku no hero acadmeia of its time for the "raising the next generation" trope but didn't run as long and nowhere nearly as big.
