I was saving up for MacBook Pro Max M3, but I heard it’s bad with Maya.
What’s a good laptop for serious 3D software in Maya, Zbrush, Substance Painter, and Blender for the long term?
>>
>>983858
Why a laptop?
>>
>>983860
I would like to box model/sculpt and texture them etc at the library since I’m still in college, I don’t wanna restrain myself to my room all day u know?

>uhhhhh hey can you guys fix this, we're stuck on Blender 3.0
>it's just one guy
>he broke it on purpose and refuses to fix it because of his "vision" for Eevee, a realtime engine that runs at 2 fps
I'm starting to understand the criticism against Blender.

i understand this pain, truly its annoying, but to that, you have 2 options. Get to understand the fundamentals better or use Malt.
You can also pray that one day someone will crack the psfot software already being used professionally on animes nowadays (i really want this shit, but i cant justify buying it for myself yet).
>>
>>983194
There is no understanding your way around patched-out reflections, anon. They are simply gone in an NPR workflow.
>>
>Eevee, a realtime engine that runs at 2 fps
It's time to upgrade your PC, pajeet-kun.
>>
>>983844
Ah I need a 5000$ setup to run a textured skinned character in eevee in 30fps, I see
>>
>>983844
You are wrong anon, my pc is good and still runs like shit.
I can't upgrade more my pc every if I had the money, still is bad.

Another blog post of a guy hoping to make it.
for reference i never complete any projects cause I'm lazy and I lack discipline, also because I have a day job.
Let's see if I can finish this time, goal is to finish a base mesh with game res and textures, as well as eyes and hair cards.
Also, please feel free to destroy me, I value your opinions.

Dang, that's just the start of the learning process? That must be some powerful software to make a noob's cloth look that good. Well keep it up. When will be your next update?
>>
>>983745
>>983747
What's crazy is you can simulate wet clothes and use that in renders, if you take the time to learn it it's so worth it.
>>
>>983747
The underlying model is doing a lot of the heavy lifting that's why I think it looks good and well also the program is the one doing the simulation, the real challenge is taking these meshes out of marvelous and into the graphics engine and still make them look good, so we'll see, it will probably take me another week or so to get the hang of it.
>>983750
Yeah from what I can gather marvelous is really incredible I don't know why I slept on it for so long.

>>
He is good for the donut and maybe a couple other things but its so much easier just looking up direct tutorials for what you actually want to do
>>
>>983790
Ya sure very basic stuff but harder stuff like VFX, reflections and transparency on models can cause super slow rendering. Some might even crash when doing it.

Just look at their peertube and see basic results: https://video.blender.org/videos/local

Is blender even good for animating anything?
A real question since I love modeling in blender.
However the animation looks ass backwards.

How it should look like
1) Take a MKV or whatever
2) Drop into blender
3) it looks like a picture however animates on the timeline so you can precisely capture the key frames of animation.

Do other software do that?

Has anyone worked here with toonboom rigs (2d) and also done 3d character animation? Ive started to learn 3d and just wondering, if also using rigging in 3d, how long the process is compared to 2d rigs. Is it faster/slower/etc?

no worries, dood. I just want to stay true to myself, within reason.

---

Started on my hardest challenge yet - the face. I am dealing with some high frequency noise in the tissue, which I haven't started to debug. I have seen two approaches - building only the outer skin and cutting it up and making a blendshape control / animation rig or modelling all the interior facial pieces. I somewhat started the latter, as I used SDF in a "mr potato head" style along with booleans.

What I want to do next after fixing the noise is to add eyelids and blink controls

Using my original .OBJ as a morph and dialing all hidden morphs to zero fixed the symmetry issue, but now the pants don't fit. A smoothing modifier at a high number just messes up everything, and playing with the scale also doesn't work.

So, maybe is not the bones after all.
>>
>>983694
>>983722
when you're using transfer utility, are you setting the source to "current"? this is assuming your loading the pants onto a model with custom morphs already in use.
>>
>>983724
Yes, and yes.
>>
>>983702
Honestly. I made this almost impossible to light scenario. It's a small Japanese 1K1R apartment, lights off at night, and there's a slight volume. So any Ghost light I throw in is lit up with the volume, AND, you can see the stacking shadows lining the walls no matter how big and soft I make the lights. It doesn't help that I'm working with a black character AND a white character. I've been taking stabs at it for months and came up with a janky solution. All that said, I think my end result is serviceable, but just having a better eye for lighting is the better talent.
