She's right, Tauros was the king of gen 1 and its attack was only 100, 85 is not far from it.
>>
>>55849322
Tauros wasn't OP just for its stats. It had decent moves, and Normal was OP as fuck back then. Just look at Alakazam's 135 Special, and it's still not as good as Tauros.
>>
>>55848984
wtf is the special stat so bad in gen I? Even for in-game this looks awful

They truly didn't think about balance back then. Venuaur is the best RBY starter mostly because Grass types are shit in general.
Charizard is shit if you're going to compare to other fire types.

that's megacham, ain't it? i'd recognize that 100/100 anywhere. kinda cheating to use a huge power mon.

Easily 80% of RBY dex are shitmons, gen I isn't FRLG.

I can't believe not even Yellow fixed this. In fact, I think Yellow only changed Pikachu learnset.

It changed more. For example Flareon now learns Ember at level 16, but you can only get Eevee at level 25, meaning no Ember at all.
GF at its finest.
>>
>>55850793
Pretty sure there was some decent TM for Charizard along the way
Either way as a kid I simply had fun spamming seismic toss because I liked the animation
>>
>>55851007
That's because Blue uses the Eeveelution at level 25 in Yellow.
Play the game.
>>
>>55851007
This is fine actually. They did that so Blue's Flareon would know ember when you fight it for the first time since in rby a trainer pokemon's moveset is determined by the last 4 level up moves it would learn with a few exceptions.

Either they code an unique encounter or change something that affects nothing o get the same result in a fraction of the time.
>>
>>55851007
>GF at its finest.
The Eeveelution movepool.

Yet everyone goes after Flareon for what others like Glaceon are equally guilty of. What is that 130 Special Attack going to do when Glaceon has a dickshit movepool of STAB + filler that is mostly physical?
>>
>>55851754
>>55851763
Why don't you niggas play the game? Blue still uses an Eevee at Pokemon Tower, first time using a Flareon is at Silph Co, at Lv 40, it would be using Ember either way
>>
>>55851774
Flareon was part of the original Eevee trio. Jolteon and Vaporeon were great at some point.
Glaceon and Leafeon were shit since their introduction, fucking Leafeon have 130 Def for no reason.

every Eevee has 130 on some stat. ehen GF made Leafeon no Eeveelution had 130 on Def, so they gave it to him. shit reason but still a reason

better than glaceon having it

Pffft, not my problem
>>

Gen I is great for Water types, having early Bubblebeam/ Surf and Ice Beam.
For Fire types it is awful, almost as bad as DP.
At least Ponyta has moves in gen IV.

>>55850735
Exeggutor and Victreebel are both good, while most other fire types are shit. If anything that gives you a good reason to pick charizard since you have good grass alternatives but not fire ones
>inb4 bad levelup moveset
every fire type has that problem too, this is gen 1. At least grass types get the megadrain tm in midgame, fire types dont get a good tm until blaine
>>
>>55855798
Exeggucte is late game, if you're willing to wait, it's great. Victrebel is my fav gen I grass type, it's really good, awful that Razor Leaf is only at level 38, but still great.
Also Blue >>>> Red, the exclusive pokemon are much better.
>>
>>55850923
Off the top of my head Yellow changed:
>Charizard can now learn Fly from the HM.
>Mankey learns low kick early.
>Nido's learn double kick early.
>>
>>55850735
Ironically Charizard is better if you ignore its fire moves and go for a physical swords dance set.
>>
>>55857324
Isn't Slash better for ingame? You pretty much get guaranteed crits in gen I.
I'm pretty sure critical hits ignore Atk boost in this gen too.
>>
>>55857226
In Gen1 Vileplume is arguably just as good if not better than Victrebel. Though admittedly they are practically identical, their movesets are the same save Vile gets both Petal Dance and Solar Beam while Vicky only gets razor leaf, both are caught on the same route, both are three stage evos with 3 being a stone, Both have 100 Special which is what their STAB will be using. Their only real difference is Vileplume has more defense and Victrebel has more PhysAtk.
>>
>>55857398
For real? Petal Dance is awful in Gen I and Razor Leaf is top tier.
>>
>>55852063
>Glaceon and Leafeon were shit since their introduction
Yet they get less hate than other newer Pokemon that were shit since their introduction because of their get out of jail free card that is the Game Boy and DS games that a select few old gen Pokemon don't get to have as determined by the community. If Glaceon and Leafeon both were introduced in a 3DS/Switch game, they'd be crucified and royally shitted on for being mono Grass/mono Ice while having shitty movepools and bad stats.

Older Pokemon should not be exempt from scrutiny despite how popular they can be and how they're from "da golden age". It's just favoritism and bias at this point.

>>55849338
>Tauros wasn't OP just for its stats
Correct, but it was MOSTLY because of it
>Just look at Alakazam...it's still not as good as Tauros
Yes, it is, literally the best pokemon of Gen 1 OU

Tauros it's amazing for multiple reasons
>Normal stab
>85 special is decent
>Fast, which increases critic ratio and outspeeds a lot of things
>Normal type is immune to Body Slam's paralysis
>Access to Blizzard

Still, Alakazam is fast, has the best type, and has stuff like Thunder Wave and Thunderbolt. The only way to counter Alakazam is with another Alakazam and sometimes Starmie. Tauros is hard to deal with but doubt is better than Alakazam
