I get why some fans want more of these. They shake up the game and breath new life into old mons, and they can indirectly nerf existing OP mons/types. What I don't get is, why are some fans so strongly opposed to the idea?
>>
>>55843440
I’d like a new type, sure.
What I don’t want is shitty type ideas like Sound, Plastic, Cosmic, or fucking Wind.

What in your opinion makes for a good type idea?

Ogre type

Theme is monsters and Japanese oni.

>Resisted by Ice, Psychic, Bug
>Weak to Bug, Psychic
>Resists Steel and Water, Immune to Fairy
>Strong against Fairy, Steel

Pokemon that gain the type:
>Magmortar line
>Electivire line
>Lickylicky line
>Exploud line
>Druddigon
>Dusknoir
>Throh
>Sawk
>Darumaka
>Darmanitan
>Darumaka-G
>Darmanitan-G
>Glalie
>Landorus-T
>Thundarus-T
>Tornadus-T
>Drapion (Loses Dark Type)
>Ogrepon (Teal Mask)
>>

>Noooo you can't just make it weak to the weak types and strong against the strong types, even though that was the entire purpose of fairy!!!

Sound, light and cyber

An actual idea instead of an autistic fanfic?

Should we also have a Bullet type and Sword type?

Most Pokemon fans react violently to the idea that something could be different because it implies that GF is doing something wrong. Pokemon fans are one of the most domesticated fanbases of all time and worship their corporation.

They do the same with fakemon, romhacks, and other fanworks.
>>
^this guy has bad ideas
>>
^this guy is a tpc shill

Regal/Royal type.
>>55843519
Oger type is just Dark type and would be better than S**nd type
>>
>>55843607
What I mean is, what makes an idea for a new type good?
>Regal/Royal type
Why do you think that's a good type as opposed to the others?
>>
>>55843612
Few things
1. Unlike most fan types it’s just as broad as the average type.
2. It’s not overlapping with other types and replacing unique type combos
3. It makes sense on why a Pokemon would have Royalty as an attribute and it would make sense what types it’d be good or bad against.
Wind is literally just Flying type.
Cosmic would be Psychic type but for Space Pokemon.
Sound makes 0 sense on the type chart, is just more specific Normal, would ruin moves like Bug Buzz, and it would only encompass very few concepts.
Regal doesn’t have these issues
>>
>>55843841
No it does not
>>
>>55843440
there are already too many unnecessary types that dont make sense
pokefags are so fucking retarded
>>
>>55843841
>makes 0 sense on the type chart
>would only encompass very few concepts
How does Regal not have these issues?
>>
>>55844035
>Make sense
There are tons of tropes and real life explanations for what Regal/Royal would be good and bad against. For example, being weak to Dragon as princess being kidnapped one of the most common tropes in fairytales.
And for Sound? It’s weak to uhhhh…
It’s strong against uhhhh…
>Encompassing ideas
It’s not just “Pokemon but they’re a king.” There are plenty of ideas
>Animals like many Emperor [animal] species
>Fictional royalty
>Highclass/rich
>Champions or “King of Fighters”
>Gods
>Unique cases like Slaking being “king of laziness”
With sound you get
>[animal] but it plays music
>animal who sings irl
>Thing that’s really loud

People often forget that types are introduced for the purpose of dealing with type dynamics, rather than just making a boring normal type shitmon more interesting
Dark and steel were introduced in gen 2 to address Psychic being egregiously broken in gen 1
Fairy was added to check fighting and dragon types (possibly dark types as well), which were prominent offensive types in gen 5 (remember unga bunga outrage builds?). It also served to give steel and poison some offensive uses
What type injustices exist now? Which hypothetical type would thematically match what's needed to address them?
Off the top of my head:
>Bug types suck offensively
>Ice types suck defensively and get offensively cucked by water types using ice moves
>Fairies are arguably too good defensively AND offensively?
Now give me a type that matches those needs
>>
>>55847569
>Ice types suck defensively
no they don't
>and get offensively cucked by water types using ice moves
no they don't
>Fairies are arguably too good defensively AND offensively?
no they aren't
>>
>>55847577

>>55847569

every other type is good
if you’re using an electric pokemon for physical power you’re most likely using the pokemon wrong.

>>
>>55849042
>>have access to dual screens in one move
Every Pokemon benefits from this besides Shedinja for obvious reasons.
>>have access to weather that lets them effectively resist almost every physical move
252+ Atk Choice Band Mew Glacial Lance vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Calyrex-Ice: 63-74 (15.5 - 18.3%) -- possible 6HKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Mew Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Calyrex-Ice in Snow: 85-100 (21 - 24.7%) -- guaranteed 5HKO

>>”TH-THEY SUCK DEFENSIVELY BECAUSE I LOOKED AT THE TYPE CHART!”
Correct, yawnfag.
>>
>>55849158

Cool! Now tell me how I use the move without putting an Ice type on my team.

>Learn basic math
You first.

> Correct
Learn how to play the game, campaignshitter.
>>
>>55849185
>Cool! Now tell me how I use the move without putting an Ice type on my team.
Use Smeargle + any non-Ice type that learns Snowscape.
>You first.
I did. I recognized that x1.5 Def =/= x2.
>Learn how to play the game, campaignshitter.
You say this while demonstating that you don’t know basic mechanics of the game and ignoring the most important mechanic in the game too.
>>
>>55849253
> Use Smeargle
So I still need to use Ice types. Good to know.

>I did
No you didn’t.

>You say this while demonstating that you don’t know basic mechanics of the game
I do know basic mechanics of the game. Which is why I know more mechanics than just the type chart, unlike you, campaignshitter.
>>
>>55843440
Cause I've yet to hear a suggestion that wasn't dogshit, sound being the most popular is proof of that.
>>
>>55849263
Smeargle isn’t an Ice type, campaignshitter.
>>
>>55849324
Smeargle doesn't fit on every team, campaignshitter.

The lengths motherfuckers on here will go to simply not admit they might wrong.
>>
>>55849386
Smeargle is fucking terrible at setting up Aurora Veil. I’m better off using an Ice type.
>>
>>55849386
I mean using the guy that can use every move as proof not only ice types learn it is very weak lets be real.
>>
>>55843548
I'm the biggest game freak hater on the planet, and sound type is the most fucktarded shit I've ever heard
>>
>>55849405
>It doesn’t count! I would be better off using an Ice type
Aw yes, one of the amazing Aurora Veil setters, Iron Bundle!
>>
>>55849549
or ninetales
or vanilluxe
or abomasnow
>>
>>55849508
Don't care.
>>
>>55849559
Vanilluxe isn’t in the game
>Smeargle doesn’t count despite being in the game and can use tons of stuff like Spore or literally any move to support its teammates
>Vanilluxe counts even though its in the game
btw Iron Bundle with Aurora Veil is more common than Abomasnow with Aurora Veil.
>>
>>55849627
>Smeargle doesn’t count
Correct, because if I want set snow and aurora veil I’m better off using a pokemon that specializes in setting snow and aurora veil instead of using a shitmon that requires two turns to set it up and doesn’t even get the snow defense boost.

>Vanilluxe counts even though its in the game
I’m sorry you forgot Sword and Shield exists, campaignshitter.
>>
>>55849719
>Correct, because if I want set snow and aurora veil I’m better off using a pokemon that specializes in setting snow and aurora veil instead of using a shitmon that requires two turns to set it up and doesn’t even get the snow defense boost.
I see. Ice type is a shit type carried by Snow Warning Pokemon, specifically only Ninetales-Alola. Thanks for clearing that up, campaignshitter.
>I’m sorry you forgot Sword and Shield exists, campaignshitter
Only relevent in literal fanfic meta.
>>
>>55843440
Most don't want to have to relearn the type-chart.

I'd be okay if they added a Sound and Cosmic type if their addition gave buffs to struggling types, like Grass resisting Sound.
>>
>>55849730
>it’s a shit type if you arbitrarily don’t count tools it has access to
Yes, by your braindead logic every type in the game is bad.
>>
>>55848826
>fairy's bug resistance was entirely to nerf U-Turn.
fucking retarded, 6 types already resisted bug prior to gen 6
>>
Rhythm would be a better type than sound. That way you can include both sound and dance based mons/moves.
>>
>>55843519
Honestly I think cyber could be cool. Porygon as normal doesn't make sense, plus you could do videogame references since they're running out of mythological things to reference. I'm not sure what type interactions it should have, though. It would make sense for cybernetic creatures to be weak to water and resist poison but water doesn't need a buff and poison doesn't need a nerf.
>>
>>55850815
Why?
>>
>>55851407
It's cool
>>
>>55843841
>Wind is literally just Flying type.
WInd type is literally the manipulation of air/wind and has nothing to do with flying/birds
>>
>>55853449
This shit exactly what many of these fan typings do wrong
>Majority of “Wind” Pokemon are just Flying types anyways
>Pokemon that aren’t Flying have some weak as explanations
>Some simply just don’t have explanations
>Wants to completely change the type of Pokemon with perfectly fine typings like Weavile and Shifty
>Replaces mostly Flying moves (but guys it totally isn’t just Flying!)
>Non-sensical type match-ups like being weak to Dragon/Psychic, or being Super effective against Ghost
>>
>>55853862
Makes sense to me
>>
>>55853449
>pidgeot
>noivern
>dragonite
>butterfree
>vespiquen
How are any of these more wind than just flying?
Plus what special moves would flying still have after this?
>>
>>55843472
Lol fuck Cassette Beasts and its entire fan base, which somehow manages to be cringier than this one.
