That is the 70-300mm kit lens, but desu I don't even know what I should do. Long prime or telephoto, I could probably buy both but my wife would fucking kill me.

In my honest opinion, and my main hobby being cooking, photography is rather cheap compared to cooking in the whole grand scheme of things, plus you get exercise. So, try and justify that for yourself. You generally buy one body, and maybe three solid lenses every what, 10 years as a hobbyist?

For prime lenses, you either fork over tons of money or settle for a 400mm + teleconverter. Or, you be modest and buy a 600mm sigma or something.

I'm saving up to upgrade my whole kit. But, I still enjoy the hobby! Even with my d60 and my 70 - 300mm. I'm buying the 200 - 500mm soon.

Fellow 70-350 enjoyer. I also wish I had more reach sometimes but the compactness of the lens is just so nice, it's almost the same diameter as my 16-55 while barely being any longer. Have you considered the Tamron 150-500? Considerably smaller than either of those two while still having plenty of reach on apsc. Ultimately it'd probably be best if you could rent them and try them out yourself but the Tamron would be the first one I'd go to for the size alone.

yea I do like this 70-350 but I keep seeing birds and thinking man if only I had more reach... which is cope for poor approach but it is what it is.

Covered gx85 in plastic food wrap for weatherproofing and ran it into laptop covered in upside down cardboard box (for weatherproofing)
