The budget options used to be one of the many hotels on the same road as Kalahari but they're all way overpriced now. You're lucky to find one for less than 200 a night. I used to stay at Great Wolf for less than 1000 for the week but now it's like 500 a night.There is a camp ground near cedar point which is a super budget option if the weather is nice, but prepare to get woken up by bikers revving their motorcycles.

A few years after Colossal started at the Kalahari, the owner of the Kalahari went to the con on the DL to see what was happening. Turns out he enjoyed himself and the massive profits the location was getting, so he contacted his legal team, which led to meetings with the upper Nostalgia team. A deal was signed about a year later, and that's why we have the Poconos show a year after that hotel was built, Texas soon after, and finally Wisconsin Dells. If anyone here keeps up with the Kalahari hotel chain itself, you can easily predict where the next Colossal show will land.

The main reason the Poconos will always hate Colossal is that the convention was launched way too soon for the Kalahari employees to fully prepare themselves for the event. Even though a select group of Sandusky employees were sent there to train the Poconos crew, they were never ready for a con that big. And I really don't think East will ever be the experience that the collab was hoping for.

But for staff to carry a grudge six or seven years later doesn't make sense. There has to be more to it than just that. I'm sure in that span of time, a lot of the Poconos staff that were there for the first CCE don't work there anymore.It feels like someone in like mid management at the Poconos Kalahari hates the con being there, and basically encourages their staff to be as unwelcoming as possible to attendees.
