>It's an asexual half frog mutant born in a tube
>paleotards still seethe about the collar
It's fiction, deal with it already

it's not asexual it's a sequential hermaphrodite

I get more annoyed when people try to convince me that the raptors were meant to be Deinonychus despite them being called Velociraptor mongoliensis in the book.

Why did he draw it pooping?
>>
>>4798257
no it's not. rather they would be parthenogenetic. change in sex only occurred due to social stress caused by the lack of males, it wasn't something programmed to happen at a certain point in life.
my point is further corroborated by evidence that the "males" never showed any kind of physical and behavioural change or sexual dimorphism, they all still looked the same

So it's all your shitty headcanon that goes against what's actually stated in the movie?
>>
>>4799366
that's what's stated in the fucking movie you moron. grant explicitly says that because every dinosaur is a female, some of them changed sex in order to mate.it's the scene when he picks up the egg shells.
>>
>>4799366
>the movie?
Aren't we talking about the books?
>>
>>4799379
it's pretty much the same in this regard, isn't it? by the way, this is an example of sequential hermaphrodite. they're born female and become male when they get older. specifically, it's called proteroginism.

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE NO, IT'S REAL STEPHEN SPIELBURG USED REAL SCITENTISTS ON THE MOVIE THERE THERE'S ABSOLUTELY NO REASON A HOLLYWOOD PRODUCTION WOULD TAKE CREATIVE LIBERTIES IN A CREATIVE MEDIUM AND MAKE THINGS THAT AREN'T REAL!
>>
>>4798301
how many velociraptors have they found in montana? You know, where Dr. Grant was digging "velociraptors" in the book?
>>
>>4798218
Clearly most JP commentators have not read the fucking book. Crichton is EXTREMELY explicit about why he wrote the book the way he did. It's not a book about dinosaurs. It's a book about man's hubris.
>>
>>4799521
it's more specifically him freaking the fuck out over genetic engineering and the possible consequences

>T-rex eats a massive meal and sits down to rest
>IMMEDIATELY starts chasing a puny little human for miles down a river
And it's a shit book

Running triggers their predatory instinct, like with cats
>>
>>4801602
except that they're reptiles, and reptiles don't have the urge to kill everything that moves. if anything, the t rex would've chased them for a couple of meters and roar just to tell them to go fuck themselves, that this was its turf. not swim down a river to kill them.
although, the animals in jurassic park are psychopathic murderers, the equivalent of schizo orphan dropouts that grew without parents and torture small animals in the backyard.

I always thought it was funny how much they seethe over the frill because there’s no evidence of Dilophosaurus having one but at the same time they will also draw dinosaurs covered in fleshy growths and turkey wattles
>>
>>4803460
>there’s no evidence of Dilophosaurus having one
modern lizards and birds having frills is evidence of any dinosaur having one.

it's just not strong evidence.

but then most of what we "know" about dinosaur appearance and behavior comes from similarly weak evidence. We just assume they were similar to modern animals of similar niches because evolution tends to do the same things over and over and over and over.
>>
>>4803460
I don't think it's the palaeoartists who are the ones seething about the dilo-frill.

Helpful tip for the future: Any time you come across this "people say this but they also say this" conundrum, stop and realize that you're almost certainly describing two different groups of people.

It's fiction that popularizes a false misguided impression of how things were among the general populace. That's what the problem always has been. Then these myths get further ingrained into pop culture and get put into subsequemt works like the ARK game, contributing to raising the populace's overall level of ignorance.
>>
>>4806379
The ARK games are clearly not concerned with portraying anything in any reasonable light however lol
>>
>>4801619
What do you expect. The director is Spielberg. You know. The same director who made Jaws which demonized sharks to the point of almost making extinction.
>>
>>4806547
when were sharks nearly made extinct?
>>
>>4806547
Sure jaws is the reason some sharks are endangered. Definitely not small chinamen pepe.
>>
>>4806620
likely true
