I think that's what's the best, they are only in rebirth and EoE (if you exclude a few spin offs medias most people don't know about), yet they completely steal the show. This is how you know you made a good design.
My favorite scene is their introduction at the end of Rebirth, it's such a good teaser for EoE

Most of the people I saw were waaay into their 30s, probably watched it air in the 90s as well. Not to mention evangelion as a whole has been a staple show in the region for the longest time.
