Lurking noob here, thinking of upgrading from my ancient FX-6300 to a 2673v3 and pairing it with a cheap Chinese X99 mobo. I'm too poor to upgrade my RAM, so I'm stuck with my 2x8GB DDR3 sticks.

Is this combo gonna be a bottleneck fest or can it actually game decently? Should I look into other options instead? Trying to keep it as cheap as possible, and honestly, the DDR4 gains seem pretty meh.
>>
>>100220441
>2673v3
isnt that one kinda slow in single thread? is only 2.4ghz 3.1 turbo
single thread is important for many games,
>>

Depends on the manufacturer
Some of what they sell are refurbs sold as new though. In cases of some gaming mice I think I've even read they just take the shell and put shitty components inside

You were right, touchscreen monitors on Ali are basically the same price if not cheaper than the non touch ones on Amazon
Usuallly I'd just go with Ali that being the case but it's just that damn warranty concern that I'd end up with a paperewight.
So I dunno, better product with no warranty, or worse product with warranty when the port likely fails on my ass again?

Anyone else bought a chinese shit portable monitor?

Any recommendations on 4g routers or usb sticks?
>>
>>100220904
Where do you live? Do you want to spoof the fact you're using a router from your ISP? Do you need any band aggregation? Open-source software? Finally, what's your budget?
>>
>>100221178
spain, my main use is in a rural area with only the 4g band 20 at 900mhz, they usually dont care but i like to learn about the options, is to connect to a gli travel router, and cheap but decent. Outdoors can also be nice but not needed
Speed is not that important, like at all, and i am limited on the max bandwidth until they change the cell tower by the end of next year. i saw many 150mbs and that is more that i hope to get

>>
>>100221290
I bought a cheap Olax Wifi router, AX 6 to be precise, because it's capable of spoofing IMEI and TTL, thus making an ISP think i use a mobile phone. It is 100mbit capped, but hey, at least it works. I don't trust this chinkware, hence why everything routes through pfsense box. Useful for illicit/spam activities.

If you don't care about the spoofing aspect of a modem — newer Huawei/ZTE sticks are pretty decent. Older versions such as MF823D or E3372h can spoof IMEI and TTL thanks to custom firmware, but require constant rebooting because of their shitty SoC.

>gli travel router
It uses OpenWRT under the hood and comes with ModemManager preinstalled. Any modem will work. I'd suggest you to install vanilla OpenWRT though, Gl. Inet is notoriously bad at writing good software.

https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/network/wan/wwan/start

Lastly, if you want to achieve >500 mbit, you have to go the DIY route. I'm planning to use Dual-Q H721 in the future.

Forgot to mention, Base station is actually the one who controls band aggregation. If you can't get a certain band — you have to use a wideband LTE antenna.

aliexpress is fine. watch some bardwell and kabab videos if you want to know more. don't fall for the digital transmission meme, analog is the cheaper, easier way to go
>>
>>100221636
Thanks! I'm looking at the mobula6 but curious, why is it sold out on all the American sites like getfpv, newbeedrone, raceday etc. ? I don't mind Ali or banggood but it takes a while with shipping ofc because its coming from China.

I'm still using my fx8320. Same AM3+ socket, basically the 8 cores version of the 6 cores 6300.
Yes it's much slower than today's ryzens and shit. But it still werks.

Honnestly if you're cheap but still want to upgrade, you might want to consider buying a fx-83*0 and keeping your mobo and ram.
What do you even want to upgrade for?

This seems to be an issue with the phone or firnware, if you search x5 pro Bluetooth disconnecting you can find threads on reddit of other people with the same issue.

Try using airplane mode while using the space travels, and see if it still happens.

The magnetic bits can't hold shit. But otherwise it's pretty gud strength wise. I expected way worse torsion.
The flashlight for its size is really handy too but in hindsight it would have been smarter to buy one that uses regular batteries instead of being USB-C chargable.
Besides that, Chang by accident added a random blue rope keychain to one of my order. I also ordered a bunch of different 1$ wristwatch straps because the basic one that came with the one I have is silicone and fucking sucks for any kind of skin breathability and gets sweaty and disgusting when doing exercise.

If it has a picture of them bending it, it has no midsole. Essentially making it a pair of sandals.
Also make sure you are buying with replaceable soles, so you can gett a higher quality one locally.

The catch is that you can't buy think shoes with carbonfiber midsole yet.
I think it would be a better choice to buy Hoka One or Aesics Magic speed if you want that for asphalt running

Attack Shark X3 just arrived after about 10 days. Initial impression is pretty solid. The build quality is good, no squeaking or rattling. The clicks feel light and crisp, scroll wheel is average, side buttons feel pretty good. Shape is similar to Razer Viper Mini, only slightly less curved on the sides and taller. The skates feel like ass, as is common for chink mice, but I've got some dot skates for that. Despite the advertised 49 grams, my unit dials in at ~53 grams, not a big deal desu. The weight balance feels a bit front heavy, which can be solved by opening the mouse and moving the battery to the back. Overall, not bad for 23 euro (bought during a sale). Use the Kysona M600 software (https://github.com/SLAzurin/attack-shark-x3-fix) to set the debounce time to 4ms. I also recommend getting some dot skates with it, these (https://aliexpress.com/item/1005004716716663.html) are easily the best value.

I grew up with a late 90s version of one.
So no sensor, but a very faint red glow that had quite good coverage. And its great, so you stumble across the house in total darkness, find the bathroom, and the bathroom is as dimly lit as its possible to make out shapes.

And that would be my rebuttal: The chinkshit one is most likely too low in RDI, meaning it has to be somewhat bright. 40 lumens might be 2-3x as much light as it needed if the light was higher quality.

>wall charger that came wth my chinkphone (Umidigi)
Safe or not?

The phone is gone (I used it for a while, it was shit but ok for the paltry money, then I accidentally dropped it in water, is kill. F.).
I never used the wall charger because the pins were for a different region, and I had plenty of others.
I was doing a cleanout and was about to throw it but then I saw I have a good region adapter plug.
So on paper it's a decent enough single port 5V 2A 10W single port USB wall charger.
In testing I found it actually delivers 14W, so 2.8A.

Safe to use? Or is it likely to be a safety horror show inside, a fire waiting to happen, and I should throw it?
>>
>>100243497
I've used some really dodgy chargers and yet I've never had a fire or sparks or anything. If they're really shitty, they'll just break.

Things from AE you actually need and can't find elsewhere (or for a decent price). Make sure to make it count since you only get one by using it on whatever item in your cart gives the largest discount (but check the normal price since certain sellers overprice things to inflate the discount rate and get a larger compensation from AE).

good idea, ive also thought about putting them actually inside the front yard rather than outside at the gates, since you can actually get your arm through the gate to ring, but you wouldnt be able to actually do wide movements such as hitting motions to try to destroy them, or it would be awkward enough to deter most people

the problem is the walls inside are pourous stone, as opposed to the gate which is some kind of metal, so i dont think these would stick very well

Intending to get a chink device but info given by a seller says only 64GB is supported for MicroSD, which would be SDXC. Another listing that pretty much looks like the same thing says 128GB is supported, but SDXC's max is 2TB. Can I get a 256GB just fine and it'll work? Post to /sqt/ instead?
>>
Annoyingly, the screen protector is starting to develop hairline cracks on my phone, however I really don't want to buy anything until the sale in June.
>>
>>100247928
what's the device? a 64gb limit in 2024 sounds very odd
you could ask seller 1 to confirm the specs
maybe you could link the device here in case of reviews or other anons using it.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/165526846867 128
https://www.ebay.com/itm/156172573643 64
Admittedly guess I confused myself looking at multiple sellers having one of the four variants. Like second listing being sold by someone else and thought it said 64. But anyway these devices seem a bit dated, Google'ing seems to show various devices like phones only listing what was available to SDXC at the time like 64, but then 128+ worked. Though it's like some also say it didn't, maybe they didn't format right.
>>
>>100248572
you could try just asking the sellers, might be useless but could get some info
they do all look like different devices though even if they are very similar.
no harm in asking /sqt/ too if you think it will help, it does seem 128gb would still work but I personally can't say for sure

If you are tech savvy and don't mind putting some work in get all zigbee compatible stuff. You can buy a zigbee hub in various form factors for $20-$40 and use that to control all your smart shit. There are a number of foss software options that let you control everything though they do take a little effort to configure.
If you have money and want shit to be easy buy all Phillips hue compatible stuff and one of their hubs and run only their gear the bulbs are usually way cheaper in store then online.
Otherwise xiaomi has a pretty strong smart ecosystem, but im not sure how well the apps will support foreign languages and lots of the stuff will be designed for 220v.

You need to buy an hdmi splitter, that will strip the copy protection, then plug one of the splits into the tv and the other into a usb capture card. Plug the usb capture card into a pc and use it to capture. Making it work with a remote or being able to schedule recordings will be a complex project. But just making it capture will be relatively easy.

The usecase is to keep using my desktop for my work. The outages aren't short enough for an ups and a diesel generator is not feasible because I'd have to run cables through 2 stories to not dump noxious fumes home (plus it would kind of paint a target on me, they aren't discrete at all)

I had a very similar situation where my parents wanted to be able to record TV without any bullshit. I bought a splitter + HDMI capture device like was already suggested to you.

Splitter: https://tech2gopty.com/products/techole-hdmi-splitter-1in-2out-3d-4k
Capture: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09KGQ36WJ/?th=1

I didn't buy the splitter from that random bullshit website, that just the first place I found with the exact model I bought. That one 100% strips the HDCP off the signal. I bought like 5 different splitters and 3 of them stripped HDCP, the keyword to look for circa 2022 was "EDID".

The capture device comes with a remote and you can schedule 5 one-shot or recurring times to automatically start recording at. You can record to either an SD card or a USB mass storage device (ex. external HDD). The quality is "alright", the compression is definitely noticeable if you're looking for it but it's good enough for boomers (exhibit A: my parents)

I've tried a bunch of meme gamepads and I honestly think the 8bitdo pro 2 is the best (even when compared to the 8bitdo ultimate controller I also own.) The pro 2 just has a great feel, the d-pad is fantastic and the triggers strike a balance between firm and soft (good for retro games)
I've also had a go on the GULIkit KK3 controller and whilst the sticks feel nice, it also costs as much as 2-3 pro 2 controllers, and I think I'd rather just get those instead.
This is also in comparison to the main console controllers (Xbox, PS5, Switch) and after having two xbox controllers fail on me (and the bluetooth being garbage), I've vowed never again to touch that bullshit.

I had heard something like that, still I'll make a note. Someone in the reviews said to grab software for the card from some youtubers discord, but I was just going to ask the homebrew general on /vg/ to be safe. Thanks Anon!

Saturation is good
Contrast is bad
There is a lot of pixel artifacts visible to the camera alone, on top of various halation artefacts.

But then again.... a canvas and the FOV is always amazing.

Whats a good not overpriced powerbank? I want it to have an integrated usb c cable, dont care for apple conpatibility. Fast charging, 10-20000 capacity, not too bulky, if it can charge my galaxy watch that would be perfect, but not a strict requirement.
>>
>>100263587
I've only ever tried the gyro on the old 8bitdo SF30 pro and it was kinda shit, I think the chinks only add them so the controllers will work with the Switch.

Data centers use generators
>>
>>100264916
Yes, but to bridge the time between power failure and the generators being up and running they use lead-acid UPSs.
>>
>>100264971
not that anon, but yes you are correct. thats were lead-acid excels: short bursts of high amperage. and depending on the data center tier, they are required to have multiple generators and multiple upss as redundancy in case on does not work when its needed
nobody in their right mind is going to replace their lead acid car battery with some sort of lithium based chemistry one, disregard what idiots online say about this, you do not want to get to your car in a cold morning and the thing wont start. not to mention that most car batteries live inside the bonnet so a very wide range of temperatures are experienced (from -10c ambient to +80c when the car is running)
>>
Any good braided usb-c cables in aliexpress? Everything looks the fucking same
>>
>>100264971
Yes but that anon already said a generator is undesirable for them so the situation is different because his ups battery would discharge. On the other hand data center will have a different usage pattern because the batteries will only be used for a brief moment

>HDMI's refresh rate limit
I thought HDMI 2.0 could handle up to 240HZ in 1080p?
The monitor literally doesn't give you an option to use a higher refresh rate if you don't use a display port cable so I thought simply by bullshitting it with some sort of adapter I could bypass that restriction
>>
>>100266034
Nevermind I'm fucking retarded, spent hours trying to look for shit in the monitor settings only to find out I had to use advanced windows monitor settings

probably gel or multi-material reinforced, not just memory foam. iirc there is knockoff "purple" gel which is supposedly nice. or idk maybe gel stuff will completely distort whereas you should be dealing with flattened memory foam for your fatass idk

>>100265479
what is a good cable supposed to be? most are fine, toocki and baseus are often on the cheaper end or found in choice deals. pretty thick and premium feeling depending on the exact model
>>
Does anyone know a good reputable Aliexpress seller that sells a lot of different small things like adapters, cables and such?
>>
>>100266654
>reputable Aliexpress seller
You don't get how it works do you?
You search, you sort by total orders, and then see if you are willing to risk a housefire or not.

I wanna upgrade my i7-6700K to something either more powerful or more efficient. Are the chink stores useful for my plans? I wanna keep the GPU but maybe upgrade my 2133 DDR4 16GB RAM (2x 8GB in each)

New CPU have different socket, you have to change everything except for the GPU. You can only get an i7 7700/K or the T version (35W) but it's like a normal 6700

>>100266654
general tech brands: ugreen, baseus, essager, toocki, uslion, topk, orico, qcy
some brands have better or worse reputation in general

Fyi don't get an i7 7700/k, replace everything

Any good waterproof laptop bags?
>>
>>100266969
Yes you have to replace motherboard, CPU and RAM. If you want to get an Intel CPU then get something newer like an i3 12100 or 13100 it's a quad-core but they're way better than any previous 4 core from Intel. you better ask the PC building general, I'm not an expert but it's not worth the upgrade to an i7 7700k. The 8th and 9th gen share the same socket but on 6th and 7th gen motherboards won't work.
I think the socket is lga1700 for 12th and 13th gen CPUs
>>
>>100267112
Btw I was in your exact situation with an i7 6700 and I got an i7 7700 and there wasn't any improvement, I sold everything at a loss and got a new motherboard, a used CPU and the cheapest RAM from AliExpress

>Generally, they are a waste of time.
>For example, I have some coins that are over a hundred years old, but they are, still, only worth face value, due to mass production.
>If you find a coin that was not mass produced, like a display model in perfect condition, then you may get twice what the coin is worth, if you can sell it.
>Sure, there are various unique common ones, though, which you can sell for a bit more, to customers that won't recognize a coin's value.
>If you ever heard that one went for thousands, then it was, probably, deformed in manufacturing, and auctioned to rich collectors.
Thus, don't collect coins, seriously.

I'd say upgrade to AM4, you can keep the ram (albeit being slow but not a dealbreaker) and a Ryzen 5600 on Ali costs like $70 nowadays.
>>
>>100221535
I get good deals with coins in the app, in the same page where you do the check-in there are discounts by using coins.
However I don't know if that applies to everyone or I'm being shilled these useful discounts because my account is Diamond like a good goy.

The entire coin collecting craze in the 80s was basically started by conmen who were buying coins for ridiculous prices from each other and then starting catalogs that sell coins and coin auction houses and coin grading services.
It's actually some of the exact same people behind the current videogame collection hype cycle. Who again now own video game auction houses and video game grading services and bought sealed copies of mario from each other for millions of dollars.

Is there much difference between Temu and Aliexpress pricing? I've only used Ali a bit, but after mentioning the sizable discounts on Ali to my Mom she mentioned she was thinking of ordering from Temu but was told to do stuff like get the app, pay with apple pay, never use the website. Would it be better for me to just set up an Ali account for her so she can buy clothing and toys for the grandkids on the cheap?

Opposite of what >>100231356 said, I fixed my mom's by turning on the battery saving (normal one) and blew really hard in the earphone jack of the phone, as there was a piece of hair connecting both sides screwing it up.
Try that.

i can't speak from in-depth experience, but the overall sentiment from anons is that "it depends." some items can be found cheaper on either platform, it's just up to your shopping skills and autism to deal with searching through results, etc. same with capitalizing on deals, it's a bit of a seasonal thing and jumping on promotions for new account deals. certain times of the year, either platform may offer more enticing deals. i've simply stuck with aliexpress, as i feel it is the larger platform overall with more options. both have their own cheapshit of lower quality, but it seems from my perspective temu is especially riddled with such "noob traps," and it's even a meme in and of itself the level of shitty products sold, whereas aliexpress can offer you "quality" goods if you choose to find / buy them.
>>
>>100234846
The only ones I remember being recommended cheap and good quality was some diagonal strap Xiaomi one (small) and a camo pack that some /trv/ anon posted about last year that they were taking it around everywhere for hiking and worked out really nicely with various straps and held well.
I think they are linked in the OP's guide links.
