Is benching 400lbs good enough for people in the gym to look?
>>
Oh boy another classic /fit/ stealth demoralization thread
>>
>>74205560
It's terrible, they never shut up. I'm constantly approached by people that what to speak to me. Thanks to Sleepy Joe and and the radical left Democrats. I can't afford a home at 7+% interest rate to put a home gym in, so now old people and minorities think heavy benching is an invitation to hear about their recovery from heroin or what they waste their miserable lives doing for a job.
>>
pretty sure 1/2/3/4 is already stronger than 90% of people, maybe even 95+%.

>>
>>74205560
did you make this shit graphic to get you's bc it's working. half of people aren't squatting 3 plates. how many people can do five real pull ups?
>>
oh you bench 400lbs? post a video
>>
>>74205560
Yeah but came you really bench it? It's a world of difference when you can actually use weight for different grips and try to hit different muscles vs if it hits your chest you gotta roll it off.
>>
>>74206467
Most women yeah but that's baseline strength for any guy who has a manual labor job.
>>
>>74206714
most manual labor guys couldnt do any of those. probably none could do the last 2 assuming theyve never been in a gym. maybe a fucking literal lumberjack
>>

50% of people where?I assume this is referring to gym regulars, athletes or physically fit people in general for otherwise this thing is all over the place.

They're either:
a-fat
b-not fat, and apparently not muscular, which means they can OHP around 1.5x their bodyweight, which is on par with worldclass strength athletes.

Just by doing 1/2/3/4 you are already stronger that 90% of the population.

>DYELs spotted
start with an insult, preferably in board specific jargon. initiates authority/knowledge based flex
>Maybe if you lifted instead of complaining on the internet
"maybe if you x instead of" anchors authority established by the first sentence
>OP picture has been mathematically proven and no amount of cope will change that
appeal to nonsense authority - the original claim usually - always includes 'cope'
its obviously nonsense that 10% of the population can ohp 495lbs. what i like about these threads is that i get a stronger and stronger feeling every time i read them that its the same guy. that these threads appear so often means you are one of three things: an incel - the crabs in a bucket mentality is a very strong indicator (look at this ridiculous standard, none of you can achieve this everyone should just lay down and die like me)
or you're a tranny - the only living category of people who are so insane that they would actually take the time to post like this, consistently, day in and day out
or this is a bot. bots, unfortunately, are indistinguishable from transexuals and incels.

if youre not a bot, at least change your formula.

Reminder that any percentage of "people" includes millions of geriatric population, kids, babies, women; cripples, those seriously injured and the sick, cancer patients and so on. And of course the morbidly obese and the underweight skellies who can't even bench the bar alone.

completely retarded and reductionist. i don't think anyone ever hit more than 5.5 plate OHP.
i'd say 1/2/3/4 makes you stronger than ~80% of men and ~99% of women hence more like stronger than 90% of people. even that's a stretch because most men don't even lift and manual labor alone doesn't get you anywhere close to these lifts
>>
>>74206714
You're delusional. Manual labor doesn't produce a strength adaptaion significant enough to get you to a 2 plate bench or a 4 plate deadlift. I imagine only some obese 50 year old with innate strength could get close.

To end this debate 1/2/3/4 is not intermediate and def 50% of people who lift can do it. But I have only seen a 3 plate OHP once in my life in Asia by a guy who was prob training be in the olympics.
>>

3/4/5/6 is already world-class strength mate. barely anyone can do 2 plate OHP, let alone 3pl8, unless these are standards for lard elementals, only 5pl8 i saw was from a guy doing 1x bodyweight and he started at elbow heights

Not really. Was on a marine base for my school house and a old retired NCO was walking around the building. Me and a few dudes were fucking around on the bench press with 225 and dude ask if he could join for a bit.

He got on and did 10 reps. He hasn't worked out in years but all he said was, "huh, I still got it" and carried on with his day. Just casually moggs most of us but plenty of marines can do that.

Worked hard manual labour all through the summers during college. Lmfao no. The only thing you really get a lot stronger is your forearms (grip) and mid/lower back from picking shit up all the time. Rarely if ever do you pick up anything that weighs more than like 60-70 pounds
>>
>>74205560
To answer OP's question, yes. Pretty much anything above 335 gets people to look at you.
>>
can't find any credible studies. best i could find is this site that takes some lifting tables and does some math to estimate how many americans can bench press 2pl8.
he estimates 0.4%
https://powerliftingtechnique.com/how-many-people-can-bench-225/
>>
>>74206467

1/2/3/4 is stronger than 90% of men. because less than 10% of men even workout at all, so there is zero chance they are capable of doing that.

this fucking echo chamber really fucked with your brains. 10% of the male population is an enourmous number, they cant bench 2 plates are you retarded holy shit lol

this is completely true I think this is a demoralization discord thread judging by how this post got mobbed. It's probably stronger than more than 90% of the population even if you cut out women entirely.
>>74214400
what the fuck does this have to do with anything that one old guy happened to be strong as fuck. also obviously marines are going to be much much more fit than the rest of the population, probably more fit than most gym goers even. What a stupid post.
>>
>>74209386
80% of people don't lift at all, and half of the ones that do don't have a 1/2/3/4
>>
>>74205560
like why are these such hard numbers? 400 lbs? like if u weigh 300 lbs how hard is it really to push 400?
I weigh like 60kg. My bench press is 80kg. Which I think is quite fine. I definitely already have a nice chest. I'll just keep pushing 80 idc.

1/2/3/4 is a pretty standard benchmark and you should be comparing yourself to regular lifters.
>>
>>74205560
>>74206498

I guess it depends on the gym. Benching 225 for a single rep is stronger than 99% of people on the planet. Doesn't mean I'd take notice. 400lbs, haven't seen anyone bench that in my smallish gym, so yeah I'd be impressed. Probably not that impressive in elite powerlifting gym though.
