For me: I got so fucked thinking the bitcoin jump from 38k to 45k was a dead cat bounce after the etf approval. I legit missed the bull run because I thought it would come back down and retest 33-35k.

Trying to swing trade throughout 2021. I made absolutely nothing when I could have easily 10x'd by just holding my original investment. This cycle I vow not to make a single swing trade. I will continue to DCA in and then once I feel the bullrun is nearing its conclusion, I will DCA out.

I didn't sell during the last bullrun. I understood the cycles and all that but I think I got so shocked by how much I "lost" at first that I just sat there and watched it all come crashing down. Now I think of the market like the hands of a clock. Sometimes they're moving upward, sometimes downward, but if you just hold forever (besides some rare cases) you are just going in circles. I try to pay attention to the "hour" hand as opposed to the "minute" hand. Live and learn.

>>58445623
Never understood people who risk trading their whole stack right before/after the halving just to catch a possible 10% move. You had 2 whole years to swingtrade safely before it was time to sit on your hands and do nothing. Why risk missing out on the bullrun? Makes no sense
>>
Alcoholism
Was spending like $80+ a week on beer and liquor for years
>>
>>58445805
I was convinced it was impossible for there to be a bull run now because of high interest rates + the imminent "recession" and also the 4-year cycle theory. I thought the halving was priced in with the etf approval and things would just trend downward for the next 6 months
>>
>>58445811
Were you not paying attention when SVB, Credit Suisse and all those other banks collapsed last year, as well as large pension funds in some countries being on the brink of collapse because of losses on treasuries? Central banks went straight back to QE which showed that the hawkishness was a bluff and they werent serious about fighting inflation at any cost. At the first sign of trouble, they turn the printer back on. So everyone jumped right back into risk assets because they knew they were protected
>>
>>58445820
I played it stupid. I know. Outside of bitcoin and a few select alts, there hasn't been much of a bull run though. Without more retail fomoing in, I think alts will continue to lag
>>
>>58445820
And a tl;dr for this: if the economy goes to shit, moneyprinter goes brrr, which is good for risk assets.

The economy and stock/crypto market untethered a long time ago because of reckless QE. See: bullrun in every market during covid when the world economy was frozen for 2 years. That was the markets bracing for the consequences of central banks across the world increasing their money supply by 40-45%. And now we are seeing something similar, except the markets are frontrunning the moneyprinting
>>
>>58445831
We just had a 23% dip that you could have used as an entry though. Missing out on 30-50% of Bitcoins rise to the top sucks but it’s that’s no reason to stay sidelined and miss the next 13-16 months of free money raining from the sky. Bitfuck has at least another 100% to go and then you could always rotate into alts for altseason into the late stages of the bull to make up for the gains you missed out on early in the bull
>>
>>58445759
is not at its best, so I do not think it is advisable to buy in now

Not selling isn't a mistake. If you were prone to selling you'd have made mistakes before now and very likely lost it. Those who are prone to selling WILL sell. The fact you're still here 10 years later means you're made of the stuff that lasts the course.

I got into crypto right around when meme coins started booming, April 2023. I had $500 I wanted to put into WOJAK, but I was very new to crypto so didn't understand where exactly to get it, I was using Coinbase Wallet. Since I couldn't buy WOJAK, I had to decide between the other two coins I had my eye on that were available, PEPE and something called Doomer AI. For some reason, I thought the fact that Doomer was more obscure than Pepe meant that it would be a better coin, so I put my money in. I also didn't really know what gas fees were so I couldn't pull my money out when Doomer AI started nosediving.
Long story short, I looked it up and if I had bought PEPE and held to today my $500 would have turned into around $60,000. Realistically, I probably would've panic sold after the first drop, but still.

Going to uni, definitely. -$90k in outright debt, -4 years of earning potential. Missed out on super early bitcoin because I had negative money from 2008-2015 (including years of unemployment post uni).

A couple years ago I used to look up to one self help dude on Twitter. He made so many tweets and podcasts on actualizing one's spirit, carnivore diet to fix health issues, and doubling down on personal redemption. All this shit really changed my life. It lifted my spirits and helped me overcome some bad health issues.
One day he tweets that he's got a business proposition if anyone wants to get in with him, but it's $25k min. I dm'd him what it is and he replied it was a crypto sport betting business, but I didn't feel confident so I didn't reply back. A month later he dm's me and follows me and then gives me his phone number. We talk for like an hour while he tells me his actual name, where he lives, little things he's never revealed online etc. I felt maybe this guy could be like a big brother to me, a mentor.
Later that night right before I head to bed he texts that he's got a huge game to bet on and needs liquidity asap and there's no way to lose considering the whales backing him up, that'd I'd be getting paid like 25% a few days later. I send him like 22 ETH, which was $25k at the time.
Now it's worth like $90k and I've still never gotten a single penny. The guy always answers my calls, but he tells me he's now dirt broke and barely can scrap money or rent. He still even asks me if I can spare $1k just to help him get by (I'm not giving another penny). Needless to say I fucked up.
I fortunately was able to work 3 jobs remotely and made all the money back within a year though and then doubled it all with crypto so far.
